Vintage Airline Posters 1930s Part 2
For over 30 years, award-winning artist Kerne Erickson’s retro-style travel posters have been taking viewers ‘on location’ to popular and fabled destinations around the globe. Inspired by vintage vacation photos, brochures and other graphics, his depictions are painstakingly researched and meticulously depicted for historical accuracy as well as irresistible nostalgia. Erickson, a graduate of Los Angeles Art Center College, worked for years as a freelance graphic artist on client commissions which served to develop his distinctive style.
Aviation Posters have been used by all airlines since the beginning of commercial aviation to promote air service. They have been used mostly to promote airline destinations and have been prominently displayed in airline ticket offices, travel agencies, and airports. They were used to promote Air Races and Airlines alike, luring customers into the magic of air travel, before the time of scanners and shoe searchings...

In Kerne Erickson’s charming, vintage-style “The Lindbergh Line, San Francisco, California,” cable cars and antique autos climb toward the sun’s golden glow. Charles Lindbergh, the namesake of TWA’s coast-to coast route, flew the first solo trans-Atlantic flight, and served as the airline’s technical advisor. Winner of many awards, Erickson is known for meticulously researched and historically accurate posters advertising modes of travel to famous destinations.
